Structural application and design of U-shaped glass

01.Introduction to U-shaped glass

Building U-shaped glass (also known as trough glass) is the first calendering and shaping method of continuous production out, because its cross-section is“U”-shaped, hence the name. It is a new kind of building profiled glass. There are many kinds of U-shaped glass, which have good characteristics of light transmission and non-perspective, excellent thermal insulation and sound insulation, higher mechanical strength than ordinary flat glass, simple construction, unique architectural and decorative effects, can Save a lot of light metal profiles, a wide range of uses.

Products by our glass quality supervision and inspection center in accordance with the building materials industry standard JC/T867 -2000“U-shaped glass for building” qualified, the technical indicators reference to German industrial standards DIN1249 and 1055 standard formulation.

02.Scope of application

Can be used in airports, stations, gymnasiums, factories, office buildings, hotels, residential, greenhouses and other industrial and civil buildings non-load-bearing external walls, partitions and roofing.

04.Classification of U-shaped glass

According to color classification: colorless, spray color, film color. Commonly used colorless.

Classification by surface state: embossed, smooth, fine pattern. Commonly used embossing patterns.

According to the strength classification: ordinary, toughening, sticking film, strengthening film and filled insulation layer.

05.Architectural design application

As wall material, U-shaped glass can be used in building interior wall, exterior wall, partition and other parts. External walls are generally used in multi-storey buildings, the height of the glass depends on the wind load, the height of glass distance and glass connections. The data of German industrial standards DIN-1249 and DIN-18056 are provided in this special issue (Schedule 1) for the design of multi-storey and high-rise buildings. The U-shaped glass belongs to noncombustible material. The fire resistance limit is 0.75 h (single row, 6mm thick) . If there are special requirements, should be in accordance with the relevant code design or take fire precautions.

U-type glass can be single-layer, double-layer installation, installation can be left vent or no vent slot. This special issue only provides the single-row wing outward (or inside) and double-row wing at the joint in pairs of two combinations, if the use of other combinations should be noted.

06.Installation method

Pre-installation preparation: the contractor must understand the u-glass installation related regulations; familiar with the basic methods of u-glass installation, and operation of short-term training. Sign the“Safety Guarantee Agreement”, written into the“Project contracting contract content”, can enter the construction site.

Installation process planning: before entering the construction site, with the actual development of the“Device process”, and the basic requirements of the device process sent to each operator's hands, requirements and familiar with the operation, when necessary, organize ground training, especially safety operation rules, which no one can violate.

Basic requirements of the installation: special aluminium profiles are usually used. Stainless steel profiles or Ferrous profiles can also be used upon user's request. Excellent corrosion and rust protection treatment is required when metal profiles are used. The border material and the wall surface or the construction hole mouth should have the solid fixed, each extension meter should not less than 2 fixed points.

07.Installation process

The aluminum frame material, with stainless steel bolts or rivets fixed to the building. Clean the inside of the U-shaped glass carefully and insert it into the frame.

When the height of U-shaped glass is less than 5 m, the permissible deviation of the verticality of the border is 5 mm; when the horizontal width of U-shaped glass is more than 2 m, the permissible deviation of the horizontal component is 3 mm; when the height of U-shaped glass is less than 6 m, the permissible deviation of the horizontal component is 3 mm, the allowable deflection is less than 8mm.

08.Transport

Normally, it is transported by car from the factory to the construction site. Due to the characteristics of the construction site, it is difficult to find flat ground and storehouse, but must keep the safety and clean U-shaped glass, it is recommended to take cleaning measures.

09.Uninstall

U-glass factory by the home crane crane loading, the construction party responsible for unloading. In order to avoid the damage caused by unload method, damage packaging, as well as uneven ground and other problems, it is recommended to standardize the unload method.

10.Thermal insulation property

The heat transfer coefficient of double-layer U-shaped glass with different filling materials can reach 2.8 ~ 1.84 w/(m2? K) . In Germany's DIN18032 safety standard, U-shaped glass is classified as safety glass (our relevant standard has not been included in safety glass) , can be used for ball sports venues and roof daylighting. By strength calculation, the safety of U-shaped glass is 4.5 times that of ordinary glass. The strength of U-shaped glass with the same area as plate glass after installation is calculated by the area formula: AMAX = α (0.2t1.6 + 0.8)/Wk, which reflects the relationship between the area of glass and the strength of wind load. The U-shaped glass achieves the strength of the toughened glass equivalent area, while the two-wing sealant bonding constitutes the overall safety of the glass (safety glass in German industrial standard 1249-1055) .
